FAQs about GFCU Savings service changes

Our services will be unavailable or limited while we carry out the technical work to merge the banking systems of GFCU Savings and Gulf & Fraser.

Our priority is ensuring all members have access to our full suite of products, services, and technology. By merging our systems in June, we’ll be able to do exactly that – giving GFCU Savings members access to all the account options and digital banking solutions Gulf & Fraser members enjoy.

Interac e-Transfer services will be unavailable while we carry out the technical work to merge the banking systems of GFCU Savings and Gulf & Fraser.

You'll need to re-set up your Interac e-Transfer profile in Gulf & Fraser online banking. The checklist will help you prepare for this and our guides will walk you through accessing online banking and the Gulf & Fraser app.

Not until Sunday. Bill payments that are scheduled for the weekend of June 17-18 will be processed in the evening of Sunday, June 18. It's a good idea to pay your bills early, and before GFCU Savings online banking closes permanently at 4pm on Friday, June 16.

On Monday, June 19 you'll be able to access Gulf & Fraser online banking to pay your bills. You will find that your bill payees (Telus, credit card, etc.) will have been already added for you.

The following online banking features are not changing for GFCU members. Information stored in your GFCU online banking will be brought over to your Gulf & Fraser online banking:

You can continue to use your GFCU Savings debit card and the same PIN you currently use.

You can expect to receive your new Gulf & Fraser debit card in late 2023/early 2024.

Payroll which is automatically deposited will not be affected. If your payroll is due to come in between 4pm Friday, June 16 and Sunday, June 18, your account balance will be updated to show that deposit as of Monday, June 19.

The short answer is, no. Junior members are not required to pay the monthly account fee for the Everyday Spending account.

On June 19, the GFCU Savings Headstart account will automatically transition to a Gulf & Fraser Everyday Spending account. The monthly service fee of $4.95 for the Everyday Spending account will be waived until the account holder turns 26. The Everyday Spending account offers 10 full-serve and unlimited self-serve transactions per month. Additional full-serve transactions will be $1.00.

See this page for more information on our account lineup.

NOTE: The monthly service fee waiver applies to the Everyday Spending account only. Should you decide to open a different account, you will need to pay the applicable monthly service fee.
