Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC)

Support from the Gulf & Fraser Foundation means that paramedic students at the Justice Institute of British Columbia are better prepared to save the lives of children in BC.

Since its start in 1978, the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) has played a vital role providing essential training and education to public safety professionals from all over the province of BC. With its unique mandate to develop dynamic justice and public safety professionals through applied education, training and research, JIBC has become one of Canada’s leading public safety educators.

"Over the past couple years, The JIBC Foundation has worked closely with Gulf & Fraser on a variety of community initiatives, including their support of our General Bursary Campaign. We are delighted to have Gulf & Fraser as an active leader in our community and proud supporter of student success at JIBC."

Tracy Campbell, Director of the Office of Development, The JIBC Foundation

Created to help support and promote the mandate of JIBC, The Justice Institute of British Columbia Foundation (The JIBC Foundation) works to enhance education, training and student learning by raising funds for important needs and priorities such as student awards and bursaries and new or gently used equipment. Despite its size, The JIBC Foundation makes an important impact on the work of JIBC with the help of partners like the Gulf & Fraser Foundation.

In 2016, the Gulf & Fraser Foundation donated $6,000 to The JIBC Foundation to help purchase specialized pediatric training equipment to help future paramedics safely learn how to work with BC’s smallest and most vulnerable patients. The new equipment allows JIBC paramedic students to gain invaluable hands-on training which better enables them to help children experiencing a medical emergency in the real world.

"Due to their anatomy and physiology, children deserve special consideration. The simulation equipment funded through this donation has helped many students gain an understanding of the special needs of pediatric and neo-natal patients who are critically ill or injured."

Kathy Harms, Director, Health Sciences Division
